Magpie set out to redesign this exceptional pattern from from the original artwork archived at Hornsea Museum, recreating its timeless charm whilst breathing new life into it.
Hand-glazed stoneware and natural cork lid
Using new ceramic molds, Magpie has fashioned a range of storage pots adorned with this design, glazing them with the authentic Hornsea colors of the period. Each storage pot, made of stoneware and enameled by hand, is made unique by the care taken in its artisanal design. Additionally, a natural cork lid is included, adding a touch of sophistication and functionality to this delicately crafted item.
Hornsea, source of inspiration for contemporary artists
The history of Hornsea Potteries, established in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson, is punctuated by revolutionary creations which marked the landscape of British ceramics until its final closure in 2000. However, its legacy remains a source of inexhaustible inspiration for many contemporary illustrators and artists.
