A padded curved wood shell where seat and back meet

Its name doesn't lie. The Racer chair from Blu Dot has that tense, aerodynamic quality associated with objects designed for speed, except here, the objective is quite different: to make you stay at the table as long as possible. The curved wood shell, entirely covered with light padding, creates a fluid, organic silhouette where the seat and back meet in a continuous curve, without abrupt transitions. You naturally slip into it, and easily lose track of time.

Vertical fluted stitching that transforms padding into a sculptural surface

What catches the eye up close are the vertical fluted stitches that run across the entire padding. Regular, precise, they visually structure the surface while reinforcing the sculptural character of the shell. This manufacturing detail transforms a simple upholstered chair into an object to be admired as much as used.

Base colors designed to harmonize with the fabrics for refined combinations

The powder-coated steel sled base completes the proposal with consistency. Its sober, low form, slightly tilted backward, extends the dynamics of the shell and anchors the chair to the ground with stability. The base colors are designed to harmonize with the available fabrics, creating refined combinations rather than simple neutral pairings.

Discreet, warm or colorful depending on the version, always with the same guiding principle

The Racer dining chair> is available in several colors and materials, including mold-resistant Sunbrella fabrics, allowing it to adapt to various uses, from private dining rooms to professional or semi-outdoor spaces. Depending on the chosen version, it can be discreet and contemporary, warm and velvety, or bold and colorful, always with the same line.

Blu Dot

Combining business with pleasure

At Blu Dot, the philosophy is clear: design is not just about aesthetics. It must, above all, adapt to today's lifestyles and work environments, offering solutions that are creative, functional, and intuitive. Each creation aims to improve everyday life—to make it more fluid, more enjoyable, more seamless.

With this in mind, each piece designed by Blu Dot is designed to last, with a true personality and purpose. The goal? To offer useful, durable objects capable of providing pleasure day after day, year after year.

Blu Dot

Homemade

True to its artisanal and collaborative approach, Blu Dot designs all of its products in-house. Everything is created in-house, from the first sketches to the finished product. Their team of designers works hand in hand in the Minneapolis workshop, passionately exploring each step of the process: sketches, mock-ups, material testing, prototypes, packaging… nothing is left to chance. Each project becomes a collective adventure, fueled by exchange, experimentation, and attention to detail.

About Blu Dot

Since its inception, Blu Dot has pursued the same ambition: to make good design accessible to as many people as possible. A simple, yet powerful idea—one that has guided the company for over twenty years.

What the founders perhaps didn't anticipate is that so many years later, they'd still be there, in their Minneapolis studio, imagining objects that are beautiful, useful, and designed for everyday life. The difference today? The team has grown, it's enriched with passionate talent... and the workbench has seriously grown.
