Blu Dot

It all began in Minneapolis in 1997. In a small 28 m² space, around a large table covered with a roll of brown paper, the first sketches for Blu Dot were born. It all began with three college friends—two architects and a sculptor—brought together by a shared desire to create. Their starting point? A shared frustration at the inability to find modern furniture that was beautiful, functional, and affordable for their own homes.

Since then, Blu Dot's ambition has never changed: to make good design accessible to as many people as possible. And even though the years have passed, the spirit remains intact. More than twenty years later, the team is still based in Minneapolis, still driven by the same desire to design objects that are both useful and aesthetically pleasing. Except that today, the adventure is lived with a talented and passionate team—and a workbench that has grown considerably!

With this sustainability in mind, Blu Dot scrutinizes every aspect of its business. Sustainability is at the heart of their approach, whether it's the longevity of their products, the choice of materials, the organization of their workspaces, or even their manufacturing methods and the partners they collaborate with. Everything is analyzed with the aim of limiting their ecological footprint, without ever sacrificing the inspiration, functionality, or aesthetics of their creations.

To structure this transition toward more sustainable design, Blu Dot is relying on a clear roadmap, structured around four major axes: responsible design principles, rigorous material selection, maintaining high standards in all areas, and a series of concrete internal commitments. This fundamental work is long-term. It will require time, perseverance, and continuous questioning. But Blu Dot is determined to move forward on this path, convinced that it has a responsibility to its communities, its partners, and more broadly, to the world around it.
