When conceiving the Mate collection, Blu Dot designers started with a simple observation: outdoor furniture often favored rigid materials such as metal, wood, or plastic, but offered little room for softer, more tactile textures. They then sought to introduce a feeling of softness and lightness through an unexpected element: braided rope.

The project began with a series of continuous lines drawn as a fluid and airy structure. These designs quickly became the basis of the furniture, intended to house a braided backrest that was both aesthetic and comfortable. To explore all possibilities, the designers created several prototypes and experimented with different patterns using meters of colored laces. This artisanal work allowed them to perfect the ideal balance between graphic rhythm, support, and visual simplicity.

The final pattern, intentionally refined, subtly echoes the lines of the aluminum structure and creates a harmonious dialogue between geometry and flexibility. The result: a minimalist and organic silhouette that appears light while offering enveloping comfort, ideal for contemporary outdoor spaces.

This research gave birth to the Mate collection, a complete range of outdoor furniture including chairs, armchairs, and sofas. Each piece combines modern elegance, weather resistance, and relaxed comfort, to furnish terraces, patios, or gardens with a style that is both refined and inviting.
