Inspired by an Asian tradition of hammering material, the Beat lamps are designed to pay homage to those workers who made vessels and pots used to store water or food. An example of repurposing an object into another use.

In the early 2000s, The designer was on a mission in Asia as part of an NGO. Seeing the work provided by these people, he had the idea to make a series of lamps. The brass interior of the lamps, which originally was where the food and water were in contact with the container, becomes the added value and allows to refract and reflect a soft and warm luminosity.
