The Platform bench was designed by George Nelson in 1946, originally for personal use in his own office. The piece reflects Nelson's vision of streamline design, being both practical and aesthetically geometric. With a seat composed of wood slats arranged in a full-length claustra, the black-stained ash wood legs are trapezoidal in shape, avoiding the effect of heaviness and giving a lighter appearance to the whole.
