Everything you need to know
on Fatboy fabrics

Natural and synthetic fabrics

Natural fabrics are made from 100% natural yarns, such as Stonewashed cotton fabrics. In general, natural fabrics are not made for outdoor use as they are sensitive to UV rays, water (salt or chlorine) and bleach. Premium outdoor materials should be stain, UV and mildew resistant. That's why Fatboy outdoor products are made from 100% synthetic yarn and fiber materials. All of these materials are weather resistant and can be used outdoors.

But what distinguishes one fabric from another? To help you, here is a list of the main properties of all the different fibers that Fatboy uses.

Nylon

At Fatboy , the company has been using nylon for our Original bean bag for many years. Nylon is a strong synthetic material. It is hardwearing, and a special treatment makes it water and stain resistant. Nylon is easy to clean with water and neutral soap.

Cotton and Stonewashed

Fatboy uses cotton fabrics for indoor beanbags. A special finish is used to make them water and stain resistant so they are easy to clean. This natural fabric is hard wearing, highly resistant to artificial and natural light, and reasonably UV resistant. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause some color fading.

Olefin

Olefin is a synthetic material made of polypropylene fibers. The fibers are dyed using a special solution during the production process, which makes the fabric unalterable. The solution also contains UV blockers to make them UV resistant. Olefin fibers can be recycled many times into new products and their strength makes them extremely hard wearing. Olefin is waterproof and mildew resistant.

velvet

Fatboy 's velvet fabric, soft and shiny, is made of synthetic polyester for indoor use. Pile is exceptionally strong and retains its beautiful appearance for many years, making it perfect for heavy indoor use. The color change you see when you rub the fabric is one of its beautiful features. The velor doesn't pill or lint, and the recycled version is even more durable. Velvet is easy to clean and maintain. A vacuum cleaner will do for normal use. Stains can be removed with a damp cloth.

Sherpa

Sherpa fabric is made of polyester. This fabric is very soft to the touch and has a texture similar to that of shearling. Sherpa is a strong fabric that stays beautiful for years and is suitable for heavy home use. The fabric does not pill or fluff. You can remove any stains with a damp cloth, but the cover can also be machine washed (up to 40°C). The Sherpa fabric is notably available on The BonBaron and the Point Large.

Teddy

The Teddy fabric is made of synthetic polyester and is wonderfully thick, warm and super soft. Teddy gives a plush look and feel that lasts for many years, making it very suitable for heavy indoor use. The fabric does not pill or fluff. Stains can be removed with a damp cloth. The Teddy fabric is only available on Fatboy 's Slim Teddy.

Polyester

Polyester is a man-made material and Fatboy only uses high quality, sturdy fabric. It does not wrinkle and is easy to clean. The fabric also receives a special finish that makes it water and stain resistant. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause some color fading.

The best fabric for an ottoman depends on your specific needs and preferences. Fatboy beanbags are made from durable, comfortable and easy to clean fabrics.

Nylon is one of the most popular fabrics for beanbags. This synthetic fabric is durable, stain and moisture resistant, and easy to clean. It's also available in a range of colors, making it a versatile option for different styles. Another popular option is cotton (stonewashed), a natural fiber that is soft, breathable and comfortable. For a more luxurious feel, it is possible to use velvet or Sherpa and Teddy fabrics from Fatboy. These fabrics are soft and fluffy and add a touch of elegance and comfort to the ottoman.

Ultimately, choosing the best fabric for your bean bag comes down to your personal style, budget, and intended use. Be sure to consider factors such as durability, ease of care, and comfort when choosing the right fabric for your beanbag.
